Tuscany 8 in it’s new home

I was so pleased to see my latest commission in it’s new home. I was asked to create a painting inspired by a place close to my heart for a client. The first place that sprung to my mind was the Tuscan Village I visited and stayed in many times as a child called Sorano.  I’ve always felt that there are glimpses of the surrounding area present in the architecture in Sorano and there are aspects and colours of the village found within the vast scenery. The harmony within the village and the surrounding area is what I have endeavoured to capture in this piece, echoing the overwhelming peacefulness one feels when walking through the village.

There are lots of different aspects that make up the town and I have tried to illustrate this through using mixed materials including old CD’s, maps, old books, sand and various other materials to build up the diversity among the canvas.
