Guest Post: Jess Murray – My Favourite Natural Skincare Products

I’m always on the lookout for good quality affordable skin care products that aren’t full of nasty chemicals! I find chemical free products are much kinder to my skin, and as someone who cares about what they eat it makes sense to care about what you put on your skin!

What to avoid:

Parabens: A bi-product of the petroleum industry that is literally in almost all cosmetic products as it gives them a shelf life of 5+ years. The problem is it has been linked to cancer and a host of other health issues.

Here are a few of my favourite affordable natural skincare products:

Avalon Organics Lavender Luminosity Facial Cleansing Gel

This is my favourite cleanser, it’s great for people who have occasional acne or sensitive skin.  I find this cleanser lives up to it’s claim of giving ‘luminous’ skin as I think it makes my skin look more radiant which is really impressive for a cleanser! They have other gel and moisturising cleansers so they cater for all skin types..

Organic Raw Virgin Coconut Oil

Natures very own make-up remover! No need to buy a chemical laden bottle of make up remover, simply put some Coconut oil on a cotton wool pad and it will remove your make-up better than anything else! It will also condition your lashes at the same time and with only one ingredient you can’t get more natural than that!

Available from Boots and most health food shops.

Avalon Organics Vitamin C Renewal Vitality Facial Serum

Sometimes your skin needs a little extra helping hand to look it’s best and this serum is literally amazing for making your skin glow. It’s perfect for skin that has been damaged by the sun as it provides photo-aging defence. I like serums as sometimes especially in the summer, a full on moisturiser feels too heavy. Avalon Organics have a wide range of different serums so it’s good to take a look at their site and see if there is something suitable for your skin type!

Bee Cosmetics Rich Day Moisturiser

I discovered this brand at ‘Apple Day’ in Brighton last Autumn. They had a little stall and I was really drawn to their handmade products. The couple who keep bees, set up their company making use of the amazing substances that bees produce including Royal Jelly, Beeswax and Propolis. This is the best moisturiser that I have used and it is made from amazing natural ingredients!
